A Memorial Concept

Sound Perceptions

This design concept explores the duality of life – the good and the bad, light and dark – to capture life’s profound beauties, as well as its more its more somber occasions. The aim is to challenge those unsettling, otherworldly perceptions surrounding death, encouraging introspection and reflection. Drawing inspiration from the art of musical instruments, this structure will hold cables that vibrate at different harmonics with the breeze – producing sounds that range from angelic and uplifting, all the way to mournful and somber. The form itself is inspired by that of a flower losing its petal – symbolic of the natural life cycle which is both beautiful and bittersweet. By blending art, sound and nature, this piece creates a spiritual journey that invites each visitor to interpret its meaning uniquely and come to their own conclusions. Though each perspective may differ, all who encounter will be moved by a powerful wave of emotion.

Breakthroughs

This design is a portrayal of the personal journey one takes in breaking free from rigid societal structures, instead chasing their own identity and their own happiness. This is embodied through two wave-like forms that maintain a natural fluidity which stand in contrast against the stiffness of conformity. When the forms connect, they evoke a sense of unity and mutual understanding. While separated, they highlight the bravery one has to follow their own path. Together, these chairs represent a duality that honors both independence and togetherness, offering a visual metaphor for the liberation and relief that comes with embracing

one’s true self.
